Fingerprint reader mysteriously stopped working (hardware detected, but not working)

I have a HP Pavillion dv2700 laptop with a *Authentec AES2501* fingerprint reader. I have installed *Fedora 13 x86_64* on my laptop using a live CD from a USB diskette (if any of that matters).

I was using my fingerprint reader without problem using Fedora's libfprint based fingerprint...
