/boot on a separate partition


Since I've started using linux I keep my /boot on a small (150mb) separate ext2 partition. Why? I don't know I was just told to do this way. I'm not a programmer nor an IT professional, just use fedora as my desktop and that's all. So, is that really important to keep it separated? Do I...
