Installed lubuntu 20 on Gateway notebok

PulseAudio shows 'Dummy Output' under 'Device to Control'
Its Configuration Profile shows 'Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output (unplugged) (unavailable)' and about a dozen variations on that HDMI theme, but nothing for headphones, which is how I want to listen.
I can alter the volume setting, just can't get any sound.
