Hi all,

I've been on Ubuntu 20.04 since shortly after it came out. About 6-9 months ago, something changed and now when I go to eg a web page with a dark background, or I run gpg -d on the command-line and the passphrase pops up, the whole screen goes gradually darker. When I then switch back to a bright background screen, it goes gradually brighter. Each transition takes a couple of seconds.

Is this something that is being controlled by Ubuntu or by the Nvidia drivers? I don't see anywhere to modify the brightness on any menu except for the Night Light switch, which doesn't seem to affect this behaviour.

Am I just mis-remembering and this has always been the behaviour of Ubuntu 20.04?

Nvidia drivers 390.144 for reference. I'm on a desktop machine.
