Staten Island, New York (WABC) --Having grown up watching her mother run a successful hair salon in St.  Thomas, Nastasia "Stassi" Brown was completely taken aback after receiving her first weave.

It wasn't until I was 14 years old that my mother gave me my first weave that I realized I was hooked.  Her mother and grandmother immigrated to the United States when she was nine years old, and she remembers thinking, "Wow," as she braided her hair down and attached something to it.

This process left Brown so impressed that she began braiding the hair of her friends and family members.

When I first learned how to cornrow, I practiced on the hair of my male cousins until I got the hang of it. . . To get the hang of sewing and track placement, Wholesale Bob Wig I worked with my cousins until I was comfortable.  It's important because if you don't place it correctly, the whole head will look off,” Brown explains further.

I had many different styles of hair because my mother worked as a retired hairstylist.  At some point, I began doing simple styles on myself and my friends,” she continued.

A problem with her financial aid surfaced one semester while she was pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration at the College of Staten Island, Willowbrook.

As a result of her inability to pay for classes, she decided to pursue her true passion and enrolled at the Career School of New York in St.  George.

I had to withdraw from my CSI courses, and as a result, I made the decision to attend cosmetology school,” Brown explained.

Nastasia Brown opened Studio 11 Beauty Bar at Sola Salons in Port Richmond in July, as part of a franchise that includes 29 individual studios.  Picture provided by Nastasia Brown.

Amora is our beautiful daughter, and I've always done hair on the side since she was born in 2016.  Her fiance, Reid, has been extremely supportive of her business venture, she says.  "I knew right away that it was time to pursue my passion, so I formed my business entity, Studio 11 Beauty Bar. "

”Becoming a mother has fueled my desire to complete tasks that I previously wished I had the strength to complete.  It is impossible to express my gratitude enough to my family and my clients for their assistance and support throughout this process,” Brown continued.

Her other area of expertise is "natural hair care," and she enjoys assisting women who are experiencing hair problems, such as thinning.

A large number of women began to present with similar problems, including a receding or missing hairline, breakage, dehydration, or even balding patches.  Brown provides these clients with a regimen that includes product recommendations, instructions on how to use the products, and a "next trim date," according to her.

Every service begins with a scalp analysis, after which I proceed to the shampooing station.  Ingredients such as aloe, baking soda, apple cider vinegar, and essential oils are used for cleansing and moisturizing purposes, and they can all be found in your kitchen.  It has inspired me to launch my own natural hair care line, Amore',” straight hair lace front wigs Brown continued, noting that the new haircare line, which will launch in the fall, will be extremely successful.

When Brown was a child growing up, she would spend her time with her mother, Moyzine Edwards, who had a strong work ethic.  Brown said she was inspired to start her own business after watching her mother.

‘Go-getter’ is the best way to describe my mother.  Throughout the day, I would literally just sit and observe her work.  After leaving the salon, she would go to work as a bartender, which she did until the next day.  Until recently, her work ethic had been described as "crazy. "“I was naturally drawn to her because I was the only child she had,” Brown recalled of his childhood.
