[ubuntu] Gnome Panel Not Auto-Hiding As Expected.

I'm growing a bit tired of docks and want a more traditional feeling for a while, so I want to have a bottom panel back. Trick is, I want it to auto hide. I would really like to have some shortcut icons to launch programs in the lower left corner of the panel, similar to your "quick launch" in XP...
