The start of sales of plug-in hybrid versions of the Fiat 500 and Panda is scheduled for February and March this year. Cars will be available in some countries in Europe.

In a couple of minutes it became known that in Europe, the popular subcompact hatchback 500 will receive an important technical update. Together with its sister model Panda, the 500 becomes the first “soft” hybrid car from the Italian-American concern Fiat Chrysler Automobiles thanks to a new electrified power plant.

At the heart of the new 500 Hybrid and Panda Hybrid is the 1.0-liter 70-horsepower FireFly three-cylinder gasoline engine. It is connected to a 12-volt BSG electric motor (a starter integrated in the belt) and a small lithium battery, which reduces CO2 emissions by up to 30 percent compared to the previous 1.2-liter gasoline engine.

The new internal combustion engine has a relatively simple design and uses two valves per cylinder and one camshaft with a chain drive with continuously variable valve timing.

The BSG system is mounted directly on the motor and is controlled by a belt, which also drives auxiliary equipment. The system recovers energy during braking, saves it in a small lithium battery with a capacity of 11 A * h and reuses it to restart the engine and “assist” during acceleration much improved as compared to old versions carzaamin(.)com/blog/suzuki-cultus-for-sale-in-lahore-pakistan/.

The “soft” hybrid powerplant works together with a six-speed manual gearbox with a sixth gear ratio, which increases fuel economy when driving out of town. By the way, all the details of the new engine are located 45 mm lower than the old 1.2-liter engine - this is done to improve handling.
